Deborah Thorne, DMSc, MPAS, BA, PA-C 

Doctor of Medical Science, Master of Science in PA Medicine, Bachelor of Kinesiology and Exercise Science, Board Certified PA

Deborah has been in the healthcare industry since 1989, promoting health through education and awareness. She first received a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science in Canada followed by acupuncture certification. She owned and operated a community wellness clinic in rural Manitoba collaborating with other practitioners, First Nation communities, the Canadian Armed Forces and Manitoba Regional Health Authority. After several years, she moved to Guadalajara, Mexico to commence her medical training then transitioned to New York to complete a Master’s of Science in PA studies at Wagner College. During her thesis year, she facilitated research in Guatemala focusing on simulation training with comadronas (traditional midwives) in preventing postpartum hemorrhage. After successfully passing the National PA board exam she practiced in NY and NJ, gaining valuable experience in orthopedics and sports medicine while working at Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan. She went on to work in spine and pain management, physical medicine and rehabilitation as well as primary and urgent care. Dr. Thorne continued her professional advancement and training through University of Lynchburg in Virginia, facilitating a fellowship and doctoral degree. Her research focused on point of care ultrasound in diagnosis and procedural guidance in a variety of settings. Dr. Thorne and her husband, an internist, made the westward journey with their beloved rat terriers to Las Cruces, New Mexico where they are actively involved in community healthcare.
